FOR YOUR INFORMATION

1. Someone is dumping their grass cuttings behind the fence onto the ditch side. Let’s not do this. Please put your cuttings in a trash bag and out for trash pick up on Wednesday.

2. Water standing in the street.

Everyone call the city regarding this. Standing water only breeds mesquitos.

3. The lawn people have found drug paraphernalia near the retention pond and other homeowners have found syntheticmarijuana under the drainage ditch bridge. This information emailed this information to the police. We should all do our best to keep our eyes open for anything out of the ordinary.

Robbery on Bob White Drive

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Robbery on Bob White Drive

One of our neighbors on Bob White Drive was robbed last night. Thieves came into the home thru bedroom window. Their alarm was on and the robbers were able to take window pane out and not set off the alarm. This occurred between 7 – 8 pm. They left home with homeowners jewlery. If you have any information please call Friendswood police.

Crime Alert: Home Burglaries along Right-of-Ways and Greenbelts

Friendswood police are working three home burglaries that have similar methods of operation (MO) and have similarities in their location and time. All homes are adjacent to the right-of-way greenbelt area in the Eagle Lakes subdivision and police believe this area is being used by the suspect (s) as a route to and from the burglary locations.

In the last two cases, the residents left their homes between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. only to return less than two hours later to find a back window to their home broken out with guns and jewelry stolen.

The incidents include:

On July 8, forced entry was made through a back door at a residence in the 2000 block of Pebble Lane. The victim arrived home at 6:45 p.m. and noticed that his back door was forced open. He grabbed his phone and immediately called police. Police searched for a suspect but no one was there. They found a television that was unplugged and moved to the floor; several rooms rummaged through and trash bags full of loot. Guns, a game system, and computers were stolen.

On July 24, forced entry was made through a back window at a home in the 500 block of Lakeside Lane. The burglary occurred between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. When the residents returned home they found that the master bedroom was rummaged through. A shotgun and jewelry were stolen from the home.

On July 25, sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. a home was burglarized in the 1100 block of Bob White Drive. Forced entry was through a back master bedroom window. While inside, the burglars stole a weapon and jewelry.

Police believe that the burglars may be watching these neighborhoods along the greenbelt and hitting the homes during the residents’ evening time activities away from the home.

Homes without a home-security/alarm system have a significantly higher break-in rate, so invest in an alarm system to protect your home. There are two main types of security systems available: a local alarm which makes noise only and a monitored system (may make some noise, but is monitored at a centralized location). Make sure that it will sound off whenever a door is forced open and when a window is broken or opened without a password entry.

Develop a rapport with your neighbors. In today’s society, we often do not talk to our neighbors, but they are essential to good home security. They can keep an eye on your house when you are away.

Finally, police officials want to emphasize that it is the individual homeowner and the business owners’ responsibility to ensure that residences or businesses are secure. The police department has a certified crime prevention officer on staff to assist by making security assessments. Please maintain an inventory of all valuables, including serial numbers. Secure firearms in a locked safe and take photos or videos of your valuables.

To schedule an appointment for a security assessment, call Officer Kevin Crouch at 281-996-3316 or email him a request at kcrouch@friendswood.com.

Think About this:

TRAFFIC MANNERS – DRIVE FRIENDLY IN FRIENDSWOOD, PLEASE.
An unfortunate traffic accident recently occurred in Friendswood on FM528. The accident may have been unavoidable for the driver.  But, it is a poignant reminder for all of us especially since City Council has discussed traffic concerns at the last three Council meetings. If your neighborhood has concerns, don’t think action just happens. Get organized, get your HOA to be proactive sending reminders to residents to be safe, report traffic violators to the Friendswood PD 281-996-3300, and be active.
A resident in the neighborhood dealing with a contentious traffic issue made a wonderful suggestion – more public education on how friendly Friendswood roadways can be and should be.  She suggested a “20 is Plenty” campaign to keep neighborhood streets safe. We could jump start the campaign today at no cost. How? Please pass this e-mail on to all the candidates running in the May City Council Elections. Here is the idea. I have a bunch Sharpies and will go to your big signs and start the “20 is Plenty” campaign by writing it on your signs (only if you provide permission in writing). No added cost to the City or the candidates, no new signs, and added exposure to an issue many neighborhoods are dealing with every day.  Another reminder could be “Drive Friendly, This is Friendswood!”.  If Council candidates agreed to take action TODAY, it could be the most organic, low cost, dynamic, grass roots street safety campaign connecting residents we have probably ever seen anywhere.
Please drive friendly, this is Friendswood. Drive like your children live where you are driving. Remember 20 is Plenty in Friendswood’s ‘hoods. “One text or call could wreck it all.”  The Friendswood Police Chief said last night in not so many words, “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine.”   Do unto other streets as you want done on your street in front of your house. Oh, by the way, those red octogan things on the road with the word “stop” are not signs protesting the Octomom having more kids. I know  . . . we live in a confusing world, but those signs are an order to all drivers to make a full and complete stop.
Be Safe and Be Friendly.
